"Isolated thoughts" 

This series emerges from a space where the individual is completely stripped of all cultural and social references—only nature remains, boundless and continuously present. This radically reduced environment is not only physically isolated but also mentally purified: nothing distracts from the inner workings of the mind. Within this context, Tejfel explores the interplay between solitude and self-reflection—an existential state in which being alone in nature is not experienced as seclusion, but rather as a turning inward toward oneself. The series invites not only a landscape experience but also a deep mental immersion, probing the question of what it means to be fully present in a space where nothing interrupts our relationship with ourselves.

Throughout the series, Tejfel employs a restrained, natural palette: shades of gray, raw earth tones, and various nuances of black. These materials and hues are not merely formal choices but conceptual carriers as well—the dark surfaces evoke the depths of the mind, while the sand and coral fragments suggest the constant flux, fragility, and layering of thought processes. The ocean water used in the paintings, along with the patterns of the waves, introduce motifs of release and transformation into the works. Together, the materiality and gestural language construct an interior space in which solitude is understood not as isolation, but as an intensified state of conscious presence. The series encourages reading solitude not as a lack, but as a reflexive condition—an opportunity to deepen one’s connection with the self.

The paintings were created on the Maldives, where Tejfel integrated sand, coral fragments, ocean water, and paint with the site’s organic materials. This specific creative process allowed the physical presence of nature to be seamlessly incorporated into the works. The final refinements and the assembly of collage elements were completed in Tejfel’s studio in Hungary, where the series was brought to its definitive form.
